Monitor Arms & Accessories — Expert Answer
Do monitor arm clamps damage or mark desk surfaces?
Clamp-mount monitor arms can leave pressure marks or minor indentations on desks if: the clamping pad is hard plastic on a soft laminate surface, the clamp is overtightened, or the desk surface is very thin and unsupported. Prevent damage by: using the rubber or foam protective pads included with most arm clamps (or adding an aftermarket felt pad), not overtightening beyond what's needed to hold the arm securely, and choosing a grommet mount if the desk surface is particularly soft or valuable. Premium arms include better protective pads. If you have a glass desk or a very delicate surface, grommet mounting or a freestanding base is safer than a clamp. FindOfficeFurniture.com — 888-719-4960.
