Benches > Materials - Synthetic Materials

Picture your locker room, lobby alcove, vestibule, or hallway with people standing around with nowhere to sit. A bench fixes that fast. You get a backless, multi-seat surface where guests change shoes, wait for a ride, or just rest for a minute, and it holds 3 to 4 occupants on a 4 to 6 foot run without eating your budget. Chairs would only crowd a space like this, so a bench is your fix when floor room is tight and traffic is heavy. Grab one sized to your wall and you solve the seating gap in one order.

Pull out a tape measure before you commit. Most commercial benches run 36 to 72 inches long, 14 to 18 inches deep, and sit 17 to 19 inches off the floor. If you need to seat 3 to 4 people on one piece, lock in the 60 to 72 inch length. Walk your locker row or lobby alcove, mark the wall space, and match the bench length to what you actually have. Order too long and you crowd the doorway; order too short and you leave guests standing. Measure once, buy right.

You have three solid picks. Hardwood plank top brings the warm, traditional look in oak, maple, or beech, and it is the right call for locker rooms. Upholstered top with foam padding gives you lobby and waiting-room comfort for guests sitting longer. Steel slat top takes the abuse in industrial and outdoor settings without wearing out. Match the top to the room: hardwood for the locker bay, upholstered for the lobby, steel where durability rules over comfort, and you will not second-guess the pick later.

Three frames to choose from, each suited to a different setting. Metal T-leg is modern, wallet-friendly, and the easiest to clean under, which is why it is the most common spec on the floor today. Trestle wood base gives you that traditional locker-room look people expect in a school or gym. Full panel-end is the pick for an executive lobby that needs a heavier presence at the entrance. If you are outfitting a high-traffic area and want low-maintenance cleaning, grab the metal T-leg and move on to the next decision on your list without a second thought.

If this bench lands in a locker room, yes, grab the shoe shelf. Grab the version with an integrated lower shoe shelf set 4 to 6 inches off the floor so guests park shoes right there during workouts without tracking dirt across the room. Skip the shelf if you want cleaner floor access for sweeping and mopping in a lobby or hallway setting instead. Match the feature to the room's job: shoe shelf for athletic and locker spaces, plain bench for cleaner-swept public areas that see less mess.

Commercial benches are built to 250 to 300 pounds per seat position, so a 60-inch bench seating 3 occupants handles 750 to 900 pounds total without strain. Heavy-duty versions push to 400 pounds per position if your crowd runs bigger than average. The frame and seat deck test together as one unit against the BIFMA testing standard, so you are not guessing on load capacity when you place the order. Match the rating to your traffic and you will not think about it again once it is installed.

Grab one for locker rooms (gym, school, hospital staff), lobby alcoves where people wait for a ride or sign in, vestibules for boot and coat removal, hallway niches for a quick rest stop, or conference room aisles for drop-and-grab seating. Every one of these spots has the same problem: people need somewhere to sit and chairs take up too much floor. Match the bench to the room's actual traffic pattern and you get the right length and top on the first order.

If you clear the floor regularly for events or reconfigure a conference room often, grab benches with attached casters. They roll into position before an event and roll back out after, so you are not lifting and carrying every time the room changes layout. One thing to know: even on casters, a loaded 72-inch bench is a two-person job, so line up a buddy before you move it across the room. For static rooms that never move, skip the casters and save the cost on your order.

The industry standard on BIFMA-tested commercial benches runs 10 to 15 years, against 1 to 3 years on consumer-grade pieces, but we beat that: we offer a Free Lifetime Warranty unless specifically noted. The frame, the welds, the seat top, and the shoe shelf where you order one are all covered. That is the kind of backing you want on a piece that takes daily abuse in a locker room or lobby, and it is one more reason to lock in your order with us instead of settling for a shorter warranty elsewhere.

Yes. Leave a 30 by 48 inch open floor zone at one end of the bench so a wheelchair user can park alongside, with a 36 inch wide path leading up to it. The standard 17 to 19 inch seat height already lands inside the ADA range, so the bench itself does not need any modification to meet the spec. Plan your floor layout around that clear zone and you have an accessible seating spot without any extra cost or custom part. Confirm the clearance before install and you are done.
