Chairs > Arms

This is a big parent category — you can land just about any type of seating here: task chairs for everyday desk work, executive chairs for private offices, conference room chairs, drafting stools for standing-height surfaces, lobby and guest chairs, stackable meeting chairs, ergonomic task chairs, and club lounge chairs. Browse the [office chairs](https://www.findofficefurniture.com/c/Office_Chairs.htm) to see all the subtypes and narrow down what fits your buy.

Most commercial task chairs offer a seat height that adjusts from about 16 to 21 inches via a pneumatic lift — that range covers short users up to tall users at a standard 29-inch desk. Drafting stools run higher, typically 24 to 30 inches of seat height. Width and depth vary by model, so pull up the product page and check the seat dimensions before you order, especially if you are buying for a range of body sizes.

Commercial chairs are built for 8 to 12 hours of daily use, five days a week, year after year — that is a completely different load than a home chair that gets a few hours on weekends. Weight ratings run 250 to 300 pounds standard and 400 to 500 pounds for big-and-tall models. They test to the BIFMA X5.1 commercial seating standard; most residential chairs skip that testing entirely. If you are buying for an office, grab commercial — you will feel the difference.

Mesh backs run cool and breathable — the right pick for warm offices or long sitting sessions. Fabric upholstery is softer and warmer, a great fit for private offices and conference rooms. Vinyl is the right pick when you need daily wipe-down, like healthcare or shared-use spaces. Bases come in nylon (value pick), aluminum (mid-tier), and polished die-cast or steel (executive tier). Match the material to your environment and your daily cleaning protocol.

Most commercial chairs ship in one or two boxes with the base, casters, gas lift, seat, back, and arms packed separately. You click the casters into the base, drop the gas lift in, seat the back onto the frame, and bolt the arms — usually 15 to 30 minutes with an Allen key or Phillips driver that is included. No specialty tools needed. Have a buddy around for the heavier executive models.

Ergonomic task chairs are the right pick for intensive computer work — 6 to 12 hours a day at a desk. Executive chairs fit private offices and director-level spaces where comfort and appearance both matter. Conference chairs go around the meeting table for 1 to 4-hour sessions. Lounge and guest chairs work in lobbies, reception areas, and soft-seating zones. Drafting stools pair with standing-height surfaces and lab benches. Match the chair type to the zone.

Look at four things: the mechanism (simple tilt vs. synchro tilt vs. knee tilt vs. full ergonomic 4D), the arm type (fixed, height-adjustable T-arm, or fully adjustable 4-way), the caster type (hard-floor urethane or carpet nylon), and the weight rating. Match all four to your situation before you buy. The product page lists these in the features or specs section.

Yes — commercial chair brands offer replacement gas lift cylinders, caster sets, arm pads, lumbar modules, and seat foam cores as replacement parts. The gas lift and casters are the most common wear items under daily commercial use. Check the product page for the replacement parts available for your specific series. Casters that match the floor finish are especially easy to swap out yourself.

Commercial chairs carry a 10 to 12-year warranty against residential chairs at 1 year, but we offer a Free Lifetime Warranty unless specifically noted. The frame, gas lift, seat foam, back shell, base, and casters are all covered. That warranty gap is a real measure of how differently commercial and residential chairs are built.

Yes — look for chairs with a seat height range that can hit the 27-inch knee clearance under your desk for a wheelchair user, along with seat depth adjustment, lumbar height and depth adjustment, and 4D arm adjustment for a full ergonomic fit. Big-and-tall models extend the weight rating and seat dimensions for users who need more room. The product page lists the full adjustment range so you can confirm the fit before you order.
