Panel and slab bases look heavy and hide cable raceways underneath. Trestle bases give you a defined leg at each end with wide open knee room across the middle. X-bases anchor mid-length tops on a single intersection. Column bases hold up a round or square top on one pedestal. Modular leg sets pair with segmented tops if you reconfigure the room often. High pressure laminate over an engineered core is the workhorse build for 8 to 16 person rooms because the surface shrugs off scratches, hot coffee cups, and daily wiping. Edge banding is 3mm PVC or ABS on laminate and a wrapped veneer on the higher-end tier.

Plan on 150 to 650 pounds of table depending on length and base, shipping LTL on one pallet with the top crated apart from the legs. Two people and 1 to 3 hours will knock out a one-piece table; 3 to 6 hours for a segmented modular setup. White-glove install is worth it for an executive boardroom where the room is finished and the table has to land set, leveled, and ready for the first meeting.

Leave 4 feet of clear floor behind every chair so people can scoot back and walk past. A 12 person rectangular table 14 feet long needs a 24 by 14 foot room as the minimum.
