My filing cabinet wobbles on the floor — how do I fix it?
A wobbly filing cabinet is usually caused by uneven legs or an uneven floor. First, check if the cabinet has adjustable leveling glides on the bottom corners — many commercial units do. Turn the glides to extend or retract them until the cabinet sits flat. If there are no adjustable glides, furniture leveling pads (available at hardware stores) under the short legs solve the problem. Shims work too in a pinch. Make sure the wobble isn't caused by an uneven load inside the cabinet — heavy files concentrated on one side can cause tipping even on a flat floor. Never use a filing cabinet that rocks significantly — an overloaded, unsteady cabinet is a tipping hazard. FindOfficeFurniture.com — call 888-719-4960.
